Department of Medicine
The Department of Medicine at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network is comprised of the following divisions: Allergy, Cardiology, Critical Care Medicine, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Hematology-Medical Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Neurology, Physical Medicine-Rehabilitation, Pulmonary and Rheumatology. Within the department, a quality improvement committee reviews and discusses cases regularly, providing ongoing improvements in systems and education.
Many of these divisions are recognized nationally. We were the first hospital in the region and second in the state to receive national certification as a Primary Stroke Center from the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The 2005 U.S. News & World Report guide to "America's Best Hospitals" ranked LVHHN as among the nation's top hospitals for Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Geriatrics.
